NEW DELHI: New laws replacing IPC, CrPC and Evidence Act - i.e. the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam - will be in force from 1st of July, 24.

The Ministry of Home Affairs issued three notifications today regarding the date of commencement of these laws.

However, after widespread protests from truckers, the Centre has put on hold implementation of Section 106(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita - specifically, the provision relating to 'causing death of a person by rash and negligent driving of a vehicle'.

These laws were passed by the Parliament on December 21, 2023 and received Presidential assent on December 25, 2023.
